What is NAD+ IV therapy?
NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in every cell in your body. Its best-understood role is in energy metabolism, where it helps your cells turn food into usable energy, and it also plays a part in cell maintenance and repair.
An NAD+ IV infusion delivers a NAD+ solution directly into a vein through a small cannula and drip. It is given slowly, usually over a couple of hours, because a faster infusion tends to feel uncomfortable. At Chemist Aesthetics it is given by a registered nurse after a suitability check.
It is one type of IV drip therapy, the broader category of intravenous wellness infusions we offer. We think it is important to be open with you: this is a wellbeing service that some people choose to support their sense of energy and general wellbeing. It is not a treatment for any medical condition.
What we treat
People generally choose NAD+ infusions hoping to support energy, focus and a general sense of wellbeing, or out of an interest in healthy ageing. It is important to be clear that the current evidence is limited: high-quality clinical trials have not confirmed these benefits from IV NAD+, and it is not a treatment, cure or preventive measure for any illness.
If you have symptoms or a health concern, please see your GP. We will always give you an honest picture of what NAD+ can and cannot do at your consultation.
Who it's for
NAD+ IV therapy is generally considered for healthy adults who have passed a suitability check and understand that any benefits are individual and not guaranteed.
It is not suitable for everyone. We will not treat you if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or under 18, and it requires careful assessment if you have heart, blood pressure, kidney or liver conditions, an active illness, or a history of severe reactions to infusions, among others. Your nurse reviews your full history at consultation and will tell you honestly if it is not right for you.
Our approach
Everything starts with a health check. Your registered nurse reviews your medical history, medications and expectations, explains the service honestly, and takes your informed consent before any infusion.
During the drip, many people notice a feeling of warmth or flushing. This is expected, and your nurse simply slows or pauses the infusion to keep you comfortable. You are monitored throughout.
From first message to final review.
Consultation
A face-to-face consultation to review your health, discuss your goals and confirm NAD+ therapy is suitable for you.
Treatment
Your treatment is carried out by a registered professional, with your comfort as the priority.
Aftercare
We give you clear aftercare advice and are here if you have any questions afterwards.
Review
Where relevant, we review your result and help you plan any maintenance sensibly, with no pressure.
Honest, nurse-led and safety-first
We only offer NAD+ IV therapy after a suitability check, using appropriate product and a controlled infusion rate, delivered by a registered nurse. That assessment, sourcing and administration is what keeps it as safe as possible.
You can check healthcare professionals and standards on government-recognised registers such as Save Face, and the Nursing and Midwifery Council holds the register of nurses.
This page is general information and is not a substitute for a personal consultation. NAD+ IV therapy is a wellbeing service and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Your questions, answered honestly.
It is an intravenous infusion of NAD+, a coenzyme your cells use in energy metabolism and cell maintenance. At our clinic it is given by a registered nurse after a suitability check. It is a wellbeing service, not a medical treatment.
We cannot promise that. NAD+ is important in how cells produce energy, but high-quality clinical trials have not confirmed that IV NAD+ increases energy or slows ageing. Some people choose it hoping to support their wellbeing, but experiences are individual and any benefit is not guaranteed.
Currently the evidence is limited. Reviews of NAD-boosting approaches show mixed results, and there are no robust controlled trials establishing wellbeing benefits from IV NAD+ specifically. We believe it is important to be open about this.
No. NAD+ IV therapy is not a treatment, cure or preventive measure for any illness. If you have a health concern or symptoms, please see your GP.
Typically a couple of hours. It is given deliberately slowly because a faster drip tends to cause discomfort such as flushing or nausea. Your exact time is confirmed at your consultation.
Most are mild and happen during the infusion, such as flushing or warmth, nausea, chest tightness, lightheadedness or a headache, and usually ease when the nurse slows the drip. As with any IV there are small risks such as bruising, vein irritation, infection or an allergic reaction.
It is not suitable in pregnancy or breastfeeding, for under-18s, or for people with certain heart, blood pressure, kidney or liver conditions, active illness, or a history of severe reactions, among others. Your suitability is always assessed at consultation.
